Exploring Social Justice Through Artmaking
3rd grade & up

We’ll explore the relationship between community activism, social justice and the visual arts. We’ll take a look at the work of different artists who’ve used their creativity and artwork to address social issues and causes they believe in. Among them are Faith Ringgold, Eric Gottesman, Shirin Neshat, Keith Haring, Jacob Lawrence, Andrea Bowers, Kara Walker, and El Anatsui. And then we will make work of our own, in part informed by Learning for Justice Curriculum.

Tuesdays

Exploring Artmaking, 2D & 3D
1st – 3rd graders

We’ll work on several small projects using a range of materials designed to explore both the elements and principles of art & design, through looking at a range of artists, among them Alexander Calder, Louise Nevelson, Roy Lichtenstein, Hokusai, Basquiat, and Frida Kahlo.

Make Your Own Group You form the group of 6 – 10 participants, choose a focus from the menu below and bring them to the studio!

Printmaking
3rd grade & up

We’ll explore printmaking including through block printing, collagraphs (using upcycled materials) & monoprints (using upcycled materials). This workshop is great for beginnners and for young artists who may know the basics but want to deepen their exploration of printmaking.

The fee for all eight-week sessions is $330 and includes all materials.

Registration deadline: Friday, March 5th.

To complete your registration for the Spring Session, please complete the following steps:

1. Register on the “Register” page of the website.

2. Submit your payment of $330 through Venmo to: @Barbara-Bickart-1

*Once I receive payment, you will receive a confirmation email for participation in the workshop.
